SHIPMATES;
REUNION "99"
Thank-you to everyone who attended and made this years reunion a great success. The
ships comradery was rekindled and, as our mission
statement promotes, "friendship and kinship for those who served aboard the
GLACIER", was evident in the St. Louis area that weekend. What a great Association to
belong to!
THANK-YOU
John Willard, Jerry Seeney, and I would like to express our gratitude for the trust you
have placed in us by electing us into office. We will do our best to uphold the standards
and by-laws of the Association. We are committed to the Glacier Association and look
forward to a productive two years. Thank-you.
PLAQUE FOR TINCH
Mike Gilligans plans are underway to honor former association president Jim Tinch
for his tireless work getting the Glacier Association going and keeping it afloat in its
lean years. Also, to commemorate Jims service to the association, a memorial plaque
bearing his name will be dedicated every two years to honor a member for their commitment
to the organization.
WEBSITE
A vote was taken regarding the Association Website. It was decided that the site would
remain with Altinde. When I talked to the Webmaster, he indicated that we should look
forward to improvements to the site in the near future. Watch for a section for members to
post their stories about serving aboard the Glacier and their adventures going to the
North and South Poles. To post your anecdote or story, please email him at rwl@email.com for
format instructions and to let him know that you would like to contribute.
REUNION "01"
Now that Reunion "99" has past and we are savoring fond memories of the weekend,
(especially those that were trapped atop the Arch in a cloud of smoke) it is time to start
looking forward to our next gathering in Annapolis, MD. We are making plans to meet in
Annapolis for the first available weekend after Labor Day weekend 2001. Watch for more
details to come.
